Better Posture Exercises

Since most of the world spend at least eight hours a day in front of computer screens and hunched over keyboards, quick time outs for stretching can do everyone a world of good.

Three minutes and three simple exercises are all it takes for better posture. You’ll stand up much straighter and the moves even provide relief for certain back pains.  All you need to do complete these exercises is a wall…and three minutes. [Source]

Exercises For Better Posture

First, find a nearby wall, and stand with your back to it. Tuck your chin to your chest, and lean back so the back of your head touches the wall. Don’t bring your head up yet. If your posture is such that you can’t get your head all the way back, grab a pillow to put between the back of your head and the wall.

EXERCISE 1: With your head still tucked, flap your arms, hands with your palm facing down, from your sides to just over shoulder level. Do that about ten times.

EXERCISE 2: With your head still tucked and your palms facing down, lift your arms above shoulder level, then bend your elbows and put your hands on your ears. Do that about ten times.

EXERCISE 3: With your head still tucked, reach your arms out and above you with one hand and pull down, while you do the same with the other hand. Climb “an invisible ladder.” Do that about ten times.
